Taking Dongguan’s archaeological discoveries as the thread, the mobile traveling exhibition Archaeological Discoveries in Dongguan by Dongguan Museum systematically combs through thematic chapters—from the ancient coastal-dwelling lifestyle and settlement planning, to the course of the mysteriously vanished ancient kingdom integrating into the Chinese family, and further to the immigration wave in the Song Dynasty and the cultural prosperity during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It presents how the ancient ancestors of Dongguan lived, migrated, communicated, and created civilization. In terms of content, the exhibition transforms professional and profound archaeological knowledge into accessible texts and clear, user-friendly visual expressions, allowing audiences to easily understand why archaeological discoveries matter and how cultural relics tell the city’s past and present.
Adopting a flexible and convenient scroll-style exhibition format, the traveling show can reach campuses, communities, and various public spaces in the city, bringing archaeological stories closer to the general public. Complementing the exhibition is the introductory guide Wa! Archaeology! to field archaeology. With humorous texts, interesting perspectives, and simple, operable interactive methods, it deconstructs daily archaeological work, guiding young people to approach archaeology through "observing and trying." Following archaeological clues and "communicating" with cultural relics, teenagers can understand Dongguan’s urban memory and feel the charm of exploring the unknown and seeking historical truth during the archaeological process.
